Why Do Leaves Change Color In The Fall?

The leaves of trees and other plants contain three main pigments: carotene, anthocyanin, and the photosynthetic pigment, chlorophyll, which captures the sun’s energy to make food for plants. As the most abundant pigment, chlorophyll is what gives leaves their green hue in spring and summer.
Another chemical in leaves, auxin, controls a special band of cells at the base of each leaf stem, called the abscission layer. During the growing season, auxin prevents this layer from fully developing and blocking the tiny, internal tubes that connect each leaf to the rest of the tree’s circulatory system.
In fall, however, cooler and shorter days trigger an end to auxin production, allowing the abscission layer to grow and cut off the circulation of water, nutrients and sugar to the leaves. When this happens, chlorophyll disintegrates rapidly, letting carotene shine through as the yellow in maple, aspen and birch leaves. Anthocyanin, meanwhile, provides the oranges and reds of maples, sumacs and oaks. When there’s less sun, anthocyanin isn’t as chemically active and leaves are more orange or yellow than red. dan setelah itu daunnya gugur karena tidak dapat nutrisi dll.

What will make flowers to bloom faster?
I am just starting a nursery this year and I want the plants to flower to be pretty for people to buy them. They are doing good but they are not flowering like in the nursery where I bought them.
What can I use to make them flower now?

More sunshine and heat along with some fertilizer. You can use Miracle Grow, Rapid Grow or Peters. Look at the box that says it also contains trace elements and use that one, also look for the one that has a higher middle number like 15-20-15 as it produces more flowers (phosphorous) suggest mixing it half strength and each time you water give it a diluted mix of water and food. Try to increase the light and maybe add some grow lamps. Some nurseries use a plant hormone called Gibberelic acid to make the plant grow faster and bigger. It's almost like steroids for plants. You can look into it. Just remember that more is not better when it comes to fertilizer and Gibberellins.

Selain rebutan nutrisi dan cahaya matahari dan unsur hara yang terbatas di tanah, alang2 juga memproduksi hormon alelopati. Copasnya:

Alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica) merupakan gulma tahunan yang keberadaannya sangat tidak dikehendaki oleh kaum petani khususnya. Tumbuhan ini banyak terdapat di lahan pertanian di daerah tropis dan subtropis.

Alang-alang dapat menghasilkan hormon alelopati, yaitu zat yang dapat mematikan tumbuhan lain. Akibat pada suatu lahan dapat terjadi monokultur, dan yang ada hanya alang-alang.

Dengan mengacu pada kemampuan alelopati untuk mematikan tumbuhan lain, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh alelopati yang terdapat pada rimpang alang-alang terhadap pertumbuhan gulma teki (Cyperus rotundus).

Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan cara pemberian alelopati dalam kadar tertentu pada gulma teki dan satu jenis tanaman budidaya (bawang merah) sebagai pembanding. Pengamatan dilaksanakan selama 4 hari.

Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan menjelaskan bahwa herbisida dari alelopati rimpang alang-alang efektif mematikan rumput teki pada kadar ekstrak di atas atau sama dengan 60% (kadar fenol 0,56124%). Pada pemakaian ekstrak 20% (kadar fenol 0, 46255%) dan 40% (kadar fenol 0,4790%) ternyata rumput teki justru makin baik pertumbuhannya. Sedangkan untuk tanaman budidaya (bawang merah) ternyata lebih peka terhadap hormon alelopati ini, dimana dengan kadar ekstrak 20% (kadar fenol 0,46255%) saja telah dapat mematikan tanaman budidaya ini.

Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa alelopati pada rimpang alang-alang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai herbisida organik pengendali gulma teki. Disarankan penggunaannya sebaiknya sebelum sebar biji tanaman budidaya.
